When it's time to clean your floors, make sure you're doing it properly to avoid damage:
1. Vacuum or sweep the floor to remove any particles that could scratch the floor.
2. Apply hardwood floor cleaner directly to a terry cloth covered flooring mop. Lightly mist the area with floor cleaner.
3. Use a back and forth motion with the mop. When the terry cloth cover becomes soiled, simply replace it with a clean one. Cleaning the floor with a soiled cover may cause streaking or scratching.
They may need less care than carpets, but hardwood floors still require proper maintenance if they're going to look their best. While refinishing may be necessary for more extensive issues, you can help your floors keep their appearance and quality by learning how to properly clean and care for your new, or old, floors.
